BREW VERO

Remember every cup.
Brew the next one better.

Brew Vero is a free private coffee system for home brewers, made by Barista in Pajamas. Quickly log a cup, guide the brew with a method-aware timer, save recipes, track fresh coffee, measure grind particles from a photo, run controlled experiments, and receive recommendations that explain their confidence. Import your history, connect supported devices, or share a recipe only when you choose. Sign in with Google to keep your private workspace synced across devices.

ONE CONNECTED COFFEE SYSTEM

The whole coffee loop, in one private workspace.

Brew Vero connects the coffee you opened, the recipe you followed, what your grinder produced, how the cup tasted, and what you should test next. Your records become practical context—not a pile of isolated notes.

Capture the brew

Use quick log, method-specific fields, guided timers and offline capture. Add a grind analysis when it helps; the original photo stays on your device.

Build your library

Keep reusable recipes, coffee-lot freshness, water profiles, equipment, tasting notes and grind reports together. Search, filter, compare, edit or brew again.

Learn from evidence

Use Brew IQ, controlled experiments, best-recipe baselines, water context, grinder curves and confidence-aware recommendations to choose the next useful change.

Connect on your terms

Back up or import your history, capture supported scale and refractometer readings, create anonymous links, or opt into a deliberately quiet recipe Commons.

Private by defaultYour journal stays private; public publishing always requires a separate choice.
Portable by designVersioned backups, restores and compatible journal imports keep your history yours.
Useful without noiseNo ads, follower counts, public ratings, streak rankings or behavioural tracking.

BREW JOURNAL

Every cup, tracked

Quick log, guided brew timer, saved recipes, coffee-lot freshness and offline capture make the journal useful every day. Search the history, brew a cup again, or compare a focused set when you want more detail.

FROM DAILY HABIT TO USEFUL INTELLIGENCE

More capable as your history grows.

Start with a twenty-second log. Add recipes, grind measurements, water, experiments or connected readings only when they answer a real question.

Daily loop

Today, recipes and fresh coffee

A personalized starting point, repeatable recipes, method-aware fields, timers, inventory and offline-first brew capture.

Useful intelligence

Patterns with honest confidence

Controlled experiments, best observed recipes, water profiles, grinder calibration, cost analytics and Learn guidance tied to your records.

Portable history

Back up, restore or move in

Download a versioned backup, restore earlier Brew Vero data, or import compatible Beanconqueror and CSV brew histories.

Optional ecosystem

Devices, private links and Commons

Capture supported readings, share identity-free recipes and anonymized reports, or publish deliberately to the moderated recipe Commons.

GRIND LAB

Measure the grind

Print the calibration mat, sprinkle grounds, shoot from above. You get D10/D50/D90, span, fines, a brew-method match and a flavor projection, measured on this device. Save any reading to your library.

A phone held over a printed calibration mat, showing a finished grind report: D50 425 µm, uniformity 1.18, and the fines, medium and coarse split.
Self-calibratingThe printed 100 mm square is the ruler: any phone, any angle.
Lab-style reportD10/D50/D90, span, fines, distribution & cumulative curves.
Brew & flavor matchMethod fit rings and a flavor projection radar, labeled as projections.
Brew journal & analyticsLog dose, ratio, rating and taste, then watch trends, streaks, and your brewing control chart build up.
How it worksfour steps
01Print the matAt 100% scale: verify with the ruler or a bank card on the printed page.
02Sprinkle & shootThin layer inside the square, tap to break clumps, shoot straight from above.
03Read the reportD-values, brew match, flavor projection: the grind side of the picture.
04Log the brewDose, ratio, rating, tasting notes: the cup side of the picture, saved to your journal.

Flavor and brew projections are heuristics from the size distribution alone. Detection floor ≈ 100 µm. Method adapted from Jonathan Gagné's open-source coffeegrindsize (MIT). Grind analysis is free without an account; saving a report and the brew journal both need one.

Security

Portability & recovery

Your coffee history belongs to you.

Backup format v7

Create a complete Brew Vero backup, restore an older backup, or bring brew history from another journal. Imports merge safely and never delete existing records.

01Back up Brew Vero

Profile, brews, coffees, recipes, experiments, water, equipment and grind reports.

02Restore a backup

Versions 1–7 are migrated to the current structure before anything is written.

03Move from another journal

Import Beanconqueror JSON/ZIP exports or a broadly compatible brew-history CSV.

Import is additive: matching backup IDs are updated, while journal imports create new records. Files are read on this device and are not uploaded as files. Account deletion still removes your stored data and sign-in permanently.
